Inside are whole mountains of gold—not cold, ingot-like gold, but festive gold: chervonets scattered like confetti, gleaming nuggets resembling Christmas ornaments, golden nuts and apples. All of it bathes in the reflected light from outside, and it seems as though the carriage itself is filled with sunlight.
