The Lion and the Mouse One sunny afternoon, a mighty lion lay sleeping beneath a large acacia tree. His chest rose and fell with deep, powerful breaths. Nearby, a tiny mouse scurried through the grass, playing and exploring. Without noticing, the mouse ran straight across the lion’s paw. The lion awoke with a roar and trapped the mouse beneath his claw. “Please, great Lion,” squeaked the mouse, trembling, “let me go. One day, I might help you.” The lion laughed loudly. “You? Help me?” But the lion was in a good mood, so he lifted his paw and let the mouse run free. Days later, hunters came to the forest and trapped the lion in a strong net. He roared and struggled, but the ropes held tight. Hearing the roar, the little mouse rushed toward the sound. When the mouse saw the lion trapped, he quickly began to gnaw at the ropes with his sharp teeth. Little by little, the net broke apart until the lion was free. The lion bowed his head in gratitude. “Thank you, my friend. I was wrong to doubt you. Even the smallest friend can make the biggest difference.” From that day on, the lion and the mouse remained close friends, proving that kindness and friendship are stronger than size or strength.
