A cinematic documentary style, shot in black and white. The camera slowly pans (dolly-out) through a crowd of people in simple clothing, standing close to one another in a gray, featureless room. Their faces are in the semi-darkness, they stare intently ahead, emitting a persistent, monotonous snore in unison. A sudden change of scene: the same people, but now on Sunday, they are singing in a church choir, their faces illuminated by the soft light from a stained-glass window. Cut again: a weekday, people huddled in restless, fast-moving flocks on the city streets, their movements sharp and synchronized. A final close-up: someone's hand mechanically stamps a sheet of paper with text, and a voiceover, full of fanatical indifference, pronounces: "I condemn. Without reading." A dark, satirical atmosphere, contrasting lighting.
