Description: The emergency room at Gadsden Regional Medical Center on Saturday was put on diversion as concerns on social media spread over a patient treated there. Etowah County Emergency Management Agency director Jim Slick said the patient did not have Ebola, as some had speculated online. In a statement shared by the county EMA, the hospital says it is working with the Center for Disease Control and the state department of public health. "There is no issues or anything now or scares," Slick told AL.com. The public does not need to be alarmed, Slick said. Efforts to reach hospital spokesperson Will Mackey were not immediately successful. The hospital statement said it was limited in what information it could share in order to protect patient privacy. “We can confirm this evening that there are currently no confirmed or suspected cases of viral hemorrhagic fever within our hospital, community, or the surrounding region," the statement read.
